How Does It Work?

Understanding Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy 

Your body's tissue need an adequate supply of oxygen to function. When tissue is injured, it requires even more oxygen to survive.  Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (mHBOT) increases the amount of oxygen your blood can carry. An increase in blood oxygen temporarily restores normal levels of blood gases and tissue function to promote healing and fight off infection.

Here’s a breakdown of how the mHBOT process works: 

  • The patient lies down or sits comfortably in one of our FDA 510(k) Clearance treatment systems. · 
  • While the patient is in the chamber, the chamber is at a higher level of atmosphere pressure (1.3 ATA). 
  • Because of the higher pressure, the oxygen is dissolved into all of the fluids in the body instead of just the hemoglobin in the red blood cells. These fluids include the cerebrospinal fluid, plasma, and lymph.
  • A higher level of oxygen is delivered to all of the tissues in the body — as much as 25-50 times more oxygen than usual. Because the delivery occurs through additional fluids, even areas with poor blood flow are able to receive oxygen.
